Netflix Unveils ‘Titan: The OceanGate Disaster’ Documentary on Titanic Sub Tragedy

Netflix is set to release a gripping new documentary titled “Titan: The OceanGate Disaster,” focusing on the tragic 2023 implosion of a submersible bound for the Titanic wreck.

Premiering on June 11, the documentary revisits the ill-fated mission led by OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who was aboard the Titan submersible when it vanished roughly one hour and 45 minutes into its descent. The incident claimed the lives of all five people onboard.

Joining Rush were British billionaire Hamish Harding; Pakistani-born businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Suleman; and veteran French oceanographer Paul-Henri Nargeolet. The implosion drew global attention, raising questions about safety protocols and engineering choices.

Netflix promises previously unseen insights into “the shocking decisions that led to the disaster,” with the tagline, “The deeper you look, the darker it gets.”

The film aims to shed new light on the leadership decisions behind the dive and the high risks involved in deep-sea exploration.
