NEW YORK, USA – Music legend Billy Joel has canceled all upcoming concert dates after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a brain disorder that can cause dementia-like symptoms.
In a statement released Friday, the 76-year-old “Piano Man” singer announced that he is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to halt performances during recovery. He expressed regret to fans, saying, “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding.”
Joel’s condition reportedly worsened due to recent performances, which triggered issues with his hearing, vision, and balance. NPH occurs when excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, a condition more common in older adults.
His world tour, initially scheduled to begin in February across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., had already been delayed to July due to a previously undisclosed medical concern.
The cancellation comes after Joel wrapped up his historic Madison Square Garden residency in 2024, which began in 2014 and became one of the most successful runs in concert history.
