Mayweather Confirms Pacquiao Rematch as Exhibition; Venue Still Under Negotiation

LAS VEGAS — The long-simmering talk of a second showdown between boxing legends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao has finally taken a concrete step forward, with Mayweather confirming that the two icons will meet again in the ring—though this time, it will be an exhibition match.

Speaking on the highly anticipated return, Mayweather clarified that the bout will not count toward his pristine 50-0 professional record. Instead, the “Money” vs. “Pacman” sequel is designed to be a global spectacle, focusing on entertainment and the celebration of two of the greatest legacies in the sport’s history.

“It’s an exhibition. It’s about giving the fans something they’ve been asking for while keeping it fun,” Mayweather stated.

While the fight itself is confirmed, the location remains the final piece of the puzzle. Mayweather noted that several international cities are currently bidding for the rights to host the event. While Las Vegas remains a sentimental favorite for the “Fight of the Century” rematch, organizers are also looking at major hubs in the Middle East and Asia, where both fighters maintain massive fanbases.

The original 2015 meeting between the two remains the highest-grossing fight in boxing history, shattering pay-per-view records and generating hundreds of millions of dollars. Although both fighters are technically retired from professional competition, they have stayed active through various exhibition tours—Mayweather across the globe and Pacquiao most recently in exhibitions in South Korea and Japan.

Pacquiao, for his part, has long expressed interest in a rematch to settle the score following his unanimous decision loss a decade ago. While the stakes are different in an exhibition format, the competitive fire between the two remains a major draw for the boxing world.

Final details regarding the date, number of rounds, and ticket information are expected to be announced once a host venue is officially locked in.
