Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea Hospitalized for Routine Medical Procedure

MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has been admitted to a hospital to undergo a scheduled medical procedure, according to a statement released by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.

Confirming the news to reporters, Senator Go clarified that the Cabinet official’s hospitalization was not an emergency, but rather a planned visit for a necessary health check-up and treatment. While the specific nature of the medical procedure was not disclosed, Go assured the public that Medialdea is in stable condition.

“He is fine. It was a scheduled procedure,” Go said, downplaying concerns regarding the Executive Secretary’s immediate health.

As the “Little President,” Medialdea holds one of the most demanding roles in the Philippine government, overseeing the administrative operations of the Office of the President and acting as a key advisor to the Chief Executive.

Malacañang has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the duration of Medialdea’s hospital stay or who will be overseeing his duties in an acting capacity during his recovery. However, sources within the administration suggest that the Executive Secretary is expected to return to his post shortly after the procedure and a brief period of rest.

The news of his hospitalization prompted well-wishes from colleagues in both the executive and legislative branches, who expressed hopes for a swift and smooth recovery for the veteran official.
