Marcos Urges HSBC to Help Investors See the Philippines as a “Nation of Promise”

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on HSBC to help showcase the Philippines’ economic potential, urging its support in presenting the country as a “nation of promise” to international investors.

Speaking at HSBC’s 150th anniversary gala in Manila, Marcos highlighted his administration’s ongoing reforms in infrastructure, education, and social protection, designed to lift the quality of life for Filipinos while fostering business growth.

He acknowledged HSBC’s active role in supporting government initiatives, including recent major bond issuances, noting that the bank’s sustained presence reflects confidence in the Philippines’ long-term trajectory.

To further strengthen financial stability and investor trust, Marcos also mentioned efforts to refine banking regulations, improve liquidity standards, and enforce stronger governance within financial institutions.
