DPWH to Implement 2017 Cebu Flood‑Control Master Plan — Dizon

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that it will proceed with implementing the 2017 Metro Cebu Flood and Drainage System Master Plan, according to Secretary Vince Dizon.
This move comes in response to the recent devastating flooding in Cebu after Typhoon Tino, which exposed the shortcomings of existing flood‑control structures and underscored the urgent need for upstream flow management and more comprehensive mitigation strategies.
Dizon said that the department will work with academic and technical partners — including river‑basin specialists — to ensure future flood‑control projects adhere to rigorous planning and design standards and are aligned with the master plan.
