DBM Approves ₱1.7 B Calamity Fund for Key Agencies

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved a total of ₱1.7 billion in calamity‑relief funds, earmarked for several key national agencies to bolster preparedness and disaster response.

Of this amount, approximately ₱1 billion is allocated to the Department of Agriculture (DA) for agricultural‑sector recovery and mitigation, while about ₱631 million is directed to other agencies tasked with infrastructure and social‑welfare functions.

The move signals the government’s priority to ensure agencies have additional financial capacity ahead of the peak of the storm season and other natural‑hazard events. Eligible agencies are expected to use the funds for relief operations, emergency procurement, rehabilitation of critical facilities, and to support vulnerable communities.
