Almost 1 Million Evacuated as Typhoon Uwan Slams Luzon

Nearly one million people across Luzon and nearby regions have been evacuated in advance of Typhoon Uwan’s landfall as the massive storm approaches.

Authorities report that evacuees include approximately 916,863 individuals from over 270,000 families, with Bicol being the hardest-hit region, accounting for more than 660,000 of those evacuated.

Local government units are operating evacuation centers, mobilizing rescue teams, and enforcing travel restrictions as Uwan’s outer bands bring heavy rains and strong winds. Residents are urged to follow official advisories, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay in safe shelters until the storm passes.
