Metro Manila LGUs Begin Rolling Out Emergency Kits to Boost Disaster Preparedness

In response to recent earthquakes and growing concerns over disaster readiness, local government units (LGUs) across Metro Manila have started distributing emergency “go‐bags” or kits to residents. Some LGUs have already completed distribution, while others are in the planning phase.

These emergency kits typically contain first‐aid supplies, food and water provisions, lighting and communication tools, hygiene items, and essentials for a 72‐hour period. The goal is to ensure families have immediate access to critical resources in the event of an earthquake, flood, or other calamity.

Officials emphasize that such preparedness efforts are especially important for households in hazard-prone zones, as disasters can strike with little warning.
