Winwyn Marquez has officially closed the chapter on her pageant career, announcing that her first runner-up finish in Miss Universe Philippines 2025 will be her last competition.
Speaking in a heartfelt post-pageant interview, Marquez confirmed, “This is my last, I’m sure of it. I love you, guys.” Her declaration was met with cheers and support from fans who have followed her journey over the years.
Though she didn’t take home the crown, Marquez expressed gratitude for simply being part of the national pageant. “Just by joining Miss Universe Philippines, I already feel like a winner,” she said. “Now, a mother is first runner-up. That’s a feat in itself.”
On Instagram, Marquez emphasized that her journey wasn’t about winning a crown, but about sending a message—especially to fellow mothers—that dreams don’t end with motherhood. “This wasn’t just about a crown for me. I wanted to show that becoming a mom doesn’t mean your dreams stop—it can be the start of something even more meaningful.”
Reflecting on the highs and lows of the competition, she added, “There were strong days, and days full of doubt. As moms, people expect us to be tough all the time, but I’ve learned the importance of being kind to ourselves, too.”
Marquez, dubbed the “Latina slayer” for her win at Reina Hispanoamericana 2017, is part of a prominent pageant family that includes Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.
She ended her farewell message with pride: “I took the crown of courage. I stood tall and spoke my truth. That, for me, is already a victory.”
This year’s Miss Universe Philippines crown went to Ahtisa Manalo, who claimed the title on her third try. Joining Marquez and Manalo in the court are Chelsea Fernandez, Katrina Llegado, Gabrielle Carballo, and Yllana Marie Aduana.
