MANILA — Karina Bautista opened up about her absence from the recent ABS-CBN Ball, explaining that her decision was based on practicality rather than preference.
In a candid TikTok video, the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate responded to fan questions, revealing that the steep costs of preparing for a red carpet event—including outfits and a glam team—were simply not within her current budget.
“You know me, I love dressing up, striking poses, and the ABS-CBN Ball is such a great platform for exposure and networking,” she said. “But let’s be real—pulling off a glam look is expensive. And right now, I have to prioritize other financial responsibilities.”
Bautista, who has been investing in personal projects including an upcoming podcast, noted that she wanted to avoid going into debt just to keep up appearances.
“I’m an independent girlie. I’m not Henry Sy’s daughter. I’d rather save than end up owing money. I really hate debt,” she shared.
The actress admitted she was touched by how many fans noticed she was missing from the event, receiving messages across social media asking where she was. “Even if I didn’t win best dressed before, it’s nice to know people appreciate my looks. Thank you so much. I’ll definitely make it up to you at the next ball!”
Karina last attended the ABS-CBN Ball in 2023, where she made it to INQUIRER.net Entertainment’s best-dressed list. Recently, she appeared in the film My Love Will Make You Disappear alongside Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino.
