MANILA — Tensions continue to rise between Julia Barretto and her father Dennis Padilla, as the actress shared a pointed quote about narcissism on social media just as Padilla publicly declared he is cutting ties with his children Julia, Claudia, and Leon.
The conflict appears to have been reignited by Padilla’s frustration over being treated as a mere “visitor” at the recent wedding of his daughter Claudia to Basti Lorenzo.
On Thursday, April 11, Julia reposted a series of quotes on her Instagram Stories from author Anthony Bompiani, including one that read:
“A narcissist doesn’t care about being a good parent—they just care about looking like one.”
Another quote stated:
“A narcissist’s favorite role? The victim. Because it distracts from the damage they caused.”
She later deleted the posts, but screenshots have already been widely shared online.
While Julia remained silent in terms of direct commentary, the posts suggest her stance amid the escalating family rift. Neither Claudia nor Leon has addressed their father’s recent statements, though Leon penned a heartfelt open letter to his newlywed sister.
In the letter, Leon praised Claudia for helping shape him into a better person and shared his admiration for the enduring love between her and Basti. He offered his full support, encouraging the couple to always guard their happiness and peace.
Julia, Claudia, and Leon are the children of Dennis Padilla and former actress-politician Marjorie Barretto. The family has long been in the public eye due to their rocky relationship and high-profile drama.
