Darryl Yap Posts Bail in Cyberlibel Case Over ‘Pepsi Paloma’ Film Teaser

Controversial filmmaker Darryl Yap has posted ₱10,000 bail for two counts of cyberlibel filed against him in Muntinlupa, stemming from the teaser of his upcoming film “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.”

On March 19, Presiding Judge Myra Quiambao of Muntinlupa RTC Branch 203 recalled the arrest warrant issued the same day after Yap voluntarily appeared in court and posted bail. His arraignment and pretrial conference are scheduled for March 26 at 8:30 AM.

Case Origin and Legal Developments

The complaint was filed by actor Vic Sotto, who was mentioned in the controversial teaser linking him to the decades-old Pepsi Paloma rape case, which he has long denied.

Initially facing 19 counts of cyberlibel, Yap saw charges reduced to just two, which his lawyer Raymond Fortun welcomed.

“My client believes that the truth will come out in the end,” Fortun said.

Yap’s film has sparked legal debates and public uproar, reviving one of Philippine showbiz’s most contentious unresolved stories.
