Maloi, a member of the rising P-pop girl group BINI, has addressed and denied the dating rumors linking her to Rico Blanco, emphasizing that the two only met for the first time in January.
Speculation about their relationship began after a video clip surfaced online showing Maloi and Blanco crossing the street together in La Union earlier this year. However, the pair were not alone; they were accompanied by other artists, including Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, Agnes Reoma, and Pat Lasaten.
Maloi Addresses Rumors on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’
Maloi clarified the situation during an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on January 31, where she and her fellow BINI members discussed dealing with fake news and public scrutiny.
“For me, kasi parang hindi na siya mawawala as a public figure. May mga tao talaga na gagawa ng fake news about you, and feeling ko it just shows na you’re relevant,” Maloi said. “Just go with your life, just do what you love as long as wala kang natatapakang tao.”
She stressed that rumors are inevitable, but urged people to “stop spreading fake news this 2025.”
“‘Yung mga gano’ng klaseng tao, hindi na namin sila mapipigilan. Kung gusto nilang magpakalat ng fake news, then go with it. Wala na kaming magagawa. BINI is BINI,” she added.
Setting the Record Straight
When asked about the most recent fake news involving her, Maloi directly addressed the dating rumors with Blanco. She explained that the viral photo of them, which appeared as if they were holding hands, was simply a “bad angle.”
“Actually, nung time na po ‘yon, do’n lang ‘yung first meetup namin ni Rico Blanco. ‘Yung friends ko is friends din niya,” she told Boy Abunda.
Maloi also criticized how the sighting was turned into clickbait articles, pointing out how many people tend to believe headlines without reading the full story.
“As Pinoy, kung ano ‘yung mabasa mo, ‘yun ang paniniwalaan mo, and hindi lahat ng tao nagbabasa ng body ng article. So, ‘yun na ‘yung napaniwalaan nila,” she noted.
Immediate Clarification on Social Media
To prevent the situation from escalating, Maloi said she quickly addressed the rumors on her X (formerly Twitter) page. “Ayoko na lumaki pa ‘yung gulo, at gusto ko nang linawin agad,” she added.
As of now, Rico Blanco has not commented on the rumors.
