Kathryn Bernardo Shares ‘Weird’ Feeling About Living in Her Grand New Home

MANILA – While actress Kathryn Bernardo is proud to have built her family’s dream house, she admits it still feels surreal to wake up in such a large home.

In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez for the TFC show “BRGY,” Bernardo opened up about her mixed emotions regarding the home she built for her parents and family. She was joined by her “Hello, Love, Again” co-star, Alden Richards, during the conversation.

“It’s very fulfilling because, more than being my dream house, it’s really for my family, for my mama and papa,” Bernardo shared. “Not that they asked me to build it, but it was a promise I made to myself—to someday give them their dream home.”

Adjusting to a New Reality

Despite the accomplishment, Bernardo revealed it’s still an adjustment.

“Ngayon don kami naka-stay. Every time I go home tapos gigising ka do’n, weird pa rin in a way kasi ‘di kami sanay na sobrang gano’n kalaki,” she said with a chuckle. (We’re now staying there. Every time I wake up, it still feels weird because we’re not used to living in such a big house.)

However, she emphasized her happiness, knowing that her parents are delighted with their new home. She envisions it becoming their family’s “main house,” a place where they can come together and create lasting memories.

A Labor of Love

“It took a lot of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears, literally, to build that house,” Bernardo said. “When it happened, the happiness was indescribable because I know how hard I worked for it.”

More than its size or grandeur, the actress wants their home to be a true haven. “We want it to feel like home,” she added.

From Dream House to Box Office Success

Bernardo began constructing the house in 2020, and her family officially moved in late 2023. A housewarming event followed in April 2024.

Meanwhile, her film “Hello, Love, Again” continues to achieve phenomenal success. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, the film earned P500 million at the box office within just five days of its release on November 13. It also reached 8th place in the North American box office on November 18, grossing $2.32 million.
