Broadcaster Julius Babao revealed that former actor John Wayne Sace had been offered multiple opportunities to enter a rehabilitation program for his drug use but repeatedly refused. Babao shared the news on Instagram following Sace’s recent arrest for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting in Pasig.
Babao expressed regret over Sace’s choices, noting, “We offered several times for him to enter a rehabilitation center and relocate, but he repeatedly declined.” He extended his condolences to the victim’s family, stating that only the court could bring answers.
In a 2023 interview, Sace admitted his drug use had impacted his acting career but believed he could handle his recovery independently through “self-rehab.” Fellow broadcaster Bernadette Sembrano, who also interviewed Sace, reflected that his responses hinted at deeper struggles she found hard to interpret at the time.
Once a rising talent, Sace starred in shows like Home Along da Riles and Ang Probinsyano and won acclaim for his role in Dekada ’70.
