Mariel Padilla revealed in a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda that her husband, Robin Padilla, “works very hard” to honor her one condition in their marriage: that she remains his only wife. While Islam permits men to marry up to four wives, Mariel clarified that she asked Robin to commit to her alone, and he has respected that promise.
She shared that in return, Robin has defined certain aspects of his life as “untouchable,” including his commitments to Mindanao and his children, which she respects without interference. Mariel also spoke on her views about marriage dynamics, stating, “I still believe… the girl should be submissive to the husband,” while emphasizing the importance of women’s decision-making power within the relationship.
Mariel added that women hold a valued and empowered position in Robin’s faith, despite her belief in a traditional balance in marriage.
