
The TNT Tropang Giga claimed a 104-88 victory over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in Game 1 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. TNT’s solid defense and strong offensive performance in the second half helped secure their opening win in the best-of-seven series.
Rey Nambatac played a standout role in his PBA Finals debut, scoring 18 points, with 10 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. After a slow start, Nambatac found his rhythm in the second half, leading TNT to their decisive 20-point advantage in the fourth quarter.
“There’s no secret to our game. It’s really our defense. I thought our defense really won us the game tonight,” said TNT head coach Chot Reyes.
TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson contributed 19 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, while Poy Erram added 15 points. Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with 23 points, with Japeth Aguilar adding 14 points and Cu chipping in 13.
