First Lady Liza Marcos Calls for Support of Filipino Film Industry

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has made a passionate appeal for public support of the Filipino film industry, emphasizing the importance of showcasing local talent on a global stage. Through posts on her Facebook and Instagram accounts, she urged Filipinos to back local filmmakers, whose stories she believes deserve a broader audience.

“Now more than ever, it’s crucial to rally behind our local film industry. Our filmmakers are telling stories that need to be seen, not just here—but across the globe,” Araneta-Marcos wrote.

Her statements follow a visit to the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) offices in Makati City. Both organizations are awaiting the completion of the Film Heritage Building in Intramuros, Manila, which will feature a cinematheque, a film museum, and facilities for film preservation and restoration.

Araneta-Marcos expressed pride in the achievements of Filipino filmmakers, encouraging everyone to celebrate and support their work as a reflection of the nation’s cultural heritage.
