The arrest order was issued by Judge Maria Victoria A. Soriano-Villadolid of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 24. Tulfo was arrested for the violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The specific cyber libel case Tulfo was arrested for has not been confirmed yet. The Manila Police District disclosed that Atty. Lean Cruz requested assistance from police to arrest the journalist. Cruz is the counselor of a still unnamed complainant.

Tulfo remains under police custody. This is not his first time to be sued for cyber libel. In 2019, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea filed four counts against Tulfo over an article he penned for The Manila Times.
