Over 1.36 Million Learners Enrolled in Bicol for SY 2026–2027

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — Signaling a massive logistical push for the regions, over 1.36 million students have officially registered across the Bicol Region for the newly opened academic year. The Department of Education (DepEd) Bicol has logged a rapid influx of student registrations as schools nationwide transition into their new structural cycles.

The data, extracted directly from the state’s digital tracking framework, shows heavy regional turnout right as a new academic calendar format takes effect.

DepEd Bicol information officer Mayflor Marie Jumamil confirmed that the regional enrollment baseline stood at exactly 1,367,102 learners based on live transmissions to the central Learner Information System (LIS) tracked as of Thursday morning, June 11.

The student volume is currently split into two primary operational pathways:

While the 1.36 million tracker represents a massive active student body, regional education planners emphasize that the data represents an incomplete ceiling.

The current enrollment rush arrives alongside major structural reforms across the entire DepEd framework. For School Year 2026–2027, Bicol schools are executing DepEd Order No. 9, series of 2025, which simplifies class delivery into a three-term academic calendar.

The reform sets classes to run from June 8, 2026, through April 8, 2027, spanning a total of 201 active school days. Education officials designed the three-term split to explicitly counter seasonal climate disruptions and boost the overall physical well-being of local teachers and students.

To protect the massive influx of returning students, regional security networks have adjusted operational boundaries:

  • Police Deployments: Police Brigadier General Andre Dizon confirmed that 12,000 regional police personnel have been deployed across Bicol’s provinces to manage traffic safety and gate monitoring.
  • Infrastructure Cushion: The expansion comes as DepEd fast-tracks a P36-billion rollout for 10,488 classrooms nationwide to ease localized campus congestion and handle historical facility deficits.
