CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — In celebration of the 124th Labor Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Mindoro field office has announced a massive job fair scheduled for May 1, 2026. The event, which aims to provide immediate employment opportunities for thousands of Mindoreños, will be held at a major mall in Calapan City, serving as a central hub for job seekers from across the province.
The initiative is part of the national government’s “Trabaho, Negosyo, Konsyumer” (TNK) program, focusing on bridging the gap between local talent and industry needs.
DOLE-Mindoro officials confirmed that dozens of employers from various sectors will participate, offering both local and overseas placements:
- Top Industries: The fair will feature significant openings in the BPO, hospitality, retail, construction, and agribusiness sectors.
- Government Participation: Several government agencies will also be on-site to provide “one-stop-shop” services, including SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and the NBI, allowing applicants to process necessary employment documents in one location.
- Skills Matching: Technical vocational graduates are specifically encouraged to attend, with several technical and maintenance roles expected from local energy and utility firms.
To ensure a smooth application process, DOLE advises all job seekers to come fully prepared:
- Multiple Copies of Documents: Bring several copies of your updated resume or curriculum vitae (CV).
- Proper Documentation: Have 2×2 ID pictures, certificates of employment (if applicable), and valid government IDs ready.
- Digital Readiness: Some employers may utilize QR-code-based registration, so applicants are encouraged to have digital copies of their credentials saved on their mobile devices.
- Professional Attire: While the setting is a public mall, applicants are reminded that first impressions matter during on-the-spot interviews.
The 2026 Labor Day theme, which centers on “Sustaining a Resilient Workforce,” highlights the government’s effort to stabilize the labor market following the recent regional economic volatility.
“This job fair is not just an event; it’s a lifeline for many of our graduates and displaced workers,” a DOLE regional representative stated. “We are coordinating with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to ensure that the vacancies listed are high-quality and offer fair compensation.”
