PNP Urges Public To Stay Safe Around Water Ahead of 2026 Vacation Season

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday urged the public to take extra precautions when swimming and engaging in water activities as the 2026 vacation season approaches.

In an advisory, police officials reminded beachgoers, pool visitors, and families planning summer outings to observe safety guidelines and remain vigilant while in and around water to avoid accidents and drowning incidents. The call for caution comes as more Filipinos prepare for travel and leisure activities during the dry season.

Authorities emphasized the importance of following basic water safety practices such as swimming in designated areas, staying within one’s skill limits, and supervising children at all times. They also encouraged swimmers to be aware of potential hazards like strong currents, deep waters, and sudden changes in weather or tides.

The PNP’s reminder aligns with broader efforts by safety and disaster response agencies to reduce water‑related injuries and casualties, which tend to rise when travel increases during holidays and summer breaks.

Police units across the country remain on alert and continue to work with local government units and other responders to promote public safety, including proper guidelines for water activities.
