IBA, Zambales — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has intensified its operations against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) in Zambales, leading to a series of successful raids and the rescue of several minors. The crackdown is part of a broader national effort to dismantle organized networks that leverage digital platforms to facilitate the abuse and trafficking of children.
NBI operatives, in coordination with local social welfare offices, executed search warrants on multiple residences suspected of being used as hubs for illicit live-streaming activities. Authorities seized high-end computers, cameras, and various digital storage devices used to produce and distribute exploitative content to international clients.
“Our cybercrime experts and field agents are working tirelessly to track these digital footprints,” an NBI regional official stated. “The perpetrators often operate within the shadows of the internet, but our technology and intelligence networks are closing in. We are committed to ensuring that Zambales does not become a sanctuary for those who seek to harm our children.”
The rescued minors have been placed under the immediate care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for psychological processing and rehabilitation. Arrested suspects are facing multiple counts of violating the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, as well as the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
The NBI is also calling on the local community and internet service providers to remain vigilant. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities, particularly those involving large groups of minors in private residences equipped with significant technical gear. Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is vital in breaking the cycle of exploitation and protecting the most vulnerable members of society.
