MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the operations of 12 driving schools nationwide after uncovering alleged violations related to irregular issuance of driver training certificates.
In a move aimed at improving road safety and integrity in driver education, the LTO said the affected schools allegedly issued certificates without properly completing required training hours or failing to adhere to mandated teaching and assessment standards. These actions undermine regulatory safeguards designed to ensure that new drivers are adequately prepared for safe driving on public roads.
LTO officials emphasized that valid certificates are essential for licensing applicants to move forward in securing driver’s licenses. Irregularities in certification not only compromise the credibility of driver training programs but also pose potential risk to the public if unqualified individuals obtain licenses without proper competency.
The transportation agency said it will conduct further investigations into the suspended schools and urged other institutions offering driver education to strictly comply with existing rules and regulations. Legal and administrative actions may follow if irregularities are confirmed upon completion of the probe.
Motorists and aspiring drivers were reminded to verify the accreditation and compliance of the driving schools they choose, as part of efforts to uphold driving competence and overall road safety standards across the country.
