
MANILA, Philippines — The Japanese government has officially begun accepting applications for Filipino healthcare professionals under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) for the 2026 intake.
A total of 350 slots have been allocated for this year’s program:
- Nurses (Kangoshi): 50 positions.
- Care Workers (Kaigofukushishi): 300 positions.
- For Nurses:
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Active PRC License.
- Minimum of three years of work experience in a hospital, clinic, or health center.
- For Care Workers:
- Graduate of BSN (with or without a license).
- OR Graduate of any four-year course with a TESDA National Certificate II in Caregiving (NC II).
Accepted candidates will receive comprehensive support to prepare them for the Japanese healthcare environment:
- Language Training: 12 months of free Japanese language training (6 months in the Philippines and 6 months in Japan).
- Financial Support: A daily living allowance is provided throughout the entire training period.
- Work Duration: Once training is complete, candidates will work in Japanese hospitals or caregiving facilities for three to four years.
- Long-term Career: Candidates are encouraged to take the Japanese national license exams to qualify for indefinite employment in Japan.
- Deadline: The deadline for online submission is April 5, 2026.
- Agency: The program is implemented by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in coordination with the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services.
