MANILA, Philippines — The iconic “Love Bus” is making a high-tech comeback to the streets of Metro Manila. Starting in late April or early May 2026, 10 electric-powered Love Buses will provide free transportation along a major loop connecting Quezon City and Pasig City.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the buses will travel in a loop between Robinsons Galleria and Eastwood City.
- Eastbound Stops: Robinsons Galleria, Estancia Mall, MMDA, Arcovia, Opus Mall, and Eastwood City.
- Westbound Stops: Eastwood City, C5–Eastwood Footbridge, C5–Green Meadows Footbridge/Gate, Tiendesitas, C5–Julia Vargas, MMDA, Estancia Mall, and Robinsons Galleria.
- Operations: The buses will run daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM, depending on passenger demand. Each bus is expected to make five to six trips per day.
MMDA Chair Don Artes highlighted that these are fully electric vehicles, aimed at reducing pollution and traffic congestion while offering a more comfortable, air-conditioned experience for commuters.
- Capacity: Each unit can accommodate approximately 30 passengers.
- Arrival: the units are expected to arrive in mid-April for a launch in the final week of April or the first week of May.
The “Love Bus” was originally a landmark project of the first Marcos administration in the 1970s, known as the first air-conditioned public buses in the Philippines. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially revived the project during his 2025 State of the Nation Address. Before this Metro Manila launch, new Love Bus units were already deployed to Cebu, Davao, and Valenzuela City in late 2025.
