Hot and Humid Weather Expected Across Philippines on Friday (Feb 27)

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts hot and humid weather to persist across Metro Manila and most parts of the country this Friday, February 27, 2026.

Key Weather Details:

  • Primary Weather System: The Easterlies (warm winds from the Pacific Ocean) are currently the dominant weather system affecting the entire country.
  • Forecast Conditions:
    • Metro Manila & Rest of the Country: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
    • Specific Impacts: Despite the overall heat, PAGASA warns that isolated severe thunderstorms could still trigger flash floods or landslides in certain areas.
  • Temperature Ranges (Feb 27):
    • Metro Manila: 25°C to 31°C
    • Baguio City: 16°C to 25°C (coolest)
    • Davao/Tuguegarao: Up to 32°C
    • Legazpi/Cebu/Iloilo: 25°C to 31°C

Regional Variations:

While the Easterlies bring heat to the majority of the archipelago, the Shear Line continues to affect Eastern Visayas, where cloudy skies with scattered rains are expected. Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is significantly weakened, bringing only isolated light rains to the extreme northern parts of Luzon like Batanes and Cagayan.

Marine Conditions:

  • Eastern Visayas & Mindanao: Moderate seas (1.5 to 2.5 meters) with moderate winds from the Northeast to North.
  • Luzon & Rest of the Country: Slight to moderate seas (up to 1.8 meters) with light to moderate winds.
