MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water has officially begun the commissioning phase of its mainline extension project in Antipolo City, Rizal, a move expected to significantly expand water service coverage in the area.
The project, which specifically targets the communities of Haustalk and Grand Monaco–Casa Mia in Barangay San Jose, is designed to provide residents with a dependable and high-quality source of potable water.
Project Details and Impact
The extension project at Hinapao–Tagbac involves several key technical components:
- Infrastructure: Installation of approximately 330 linear meters of 150-millimeter High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipelines.
- Timeline: Construction began in September 2025 and has now reached the final commissioning stage.
- Beneficiaries: Once fully operational, the project will enable up to 708 new individual household connections.
- Water Source: The new mainline will be supplied by the Maguey Reservoir, which receives treated water from the Calawis Water Treatment Plant.
Community Engagement
In September 2025, Manila Water conducted a Project Information Campaign across various barangays in Antipolo. The campaign brought together company officials, barangay leaders, and homeowners’ associations to ensure residents were informed about the expansion program, particularly in areas that were previously unserved or underserved.
Manila Water emphasized that the project is part of its broader commitment to supporting urban development and improving the quality of life in Rizal province. By expanding critical water infrastructure, the company aims to support the sustainable and long-term development of growing suburban communities outside of Metro Manila.
