MANILA, Philippines — A large portion of the Philippines is expected to enjoy fair weather conditions on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Despite the prevailing effects of the northeast monsoon (amihan) and the easterlies, satellite images show minimal cloud cover over the country’s landmass.
Regional Weather Forecast
- Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, and Ilocos Region: The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Residents should expect chances of isolated light rains.
- Metro Manila and the Rest of the Country: The easterlies will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are possible, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
- Outlook for the Week: PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres noted that the northeast monsoon is expected to intensify from Wednesday through Friday, likely leading to even less rainfall across much of Luzon.
Safety Warnings
While fair weather is the general forecast, PAGASA issued a cautionary note regarding the easterlies. Regions experiencing localized thunderstorms are warned of possible flooding and landslides, especially in areas with high susceptibility to these hazards.
Sea conditions are generally manageable, but the public is advised to stay updated with local bulletins as the monsoon may cause slight changes in coastal waters in the coming days.
