Philippines LPG Prices Rise on New Year’s Day

Households across the Philippines are facing higher cooking gas costs as major distributors implemented price increases on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) effective January 1, 2026. Petron Corporation announced it raised LPG prices by ₱2.18 per kilogram starting at 12:01 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Solane followed with the same ₱2.18 per kilogram increase, effective 6:00 a.m., marking one of the first major fuel price adjustments of the year. This change means the price of an 11-kilogram LPG cylinder has risen by about ₱24, reflecting shifts in the international LPG contract price that influence domestic retail rates. According to energy sector monitoring, current price ranges for 11-kg LPG tanks vary depending on location and distributor pricing strategies, with the Department of Energy noting market-based fluctuations.

The increases come amid continuing adjustments in local energy markets as companies respond to global supply and demand dynamics. Consumers are advised to prepare for slightly higher household energy expenses in the coming weeks. Industry analysts emphasize that periodic price revisions are expected as international fuel benchmarks and currency movements evolve. The government’s price monitoring efforts aim to keep the public informed of these changes as they take effect.
