The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has urged the public to voluntarily surrender unused fireworks to authorities to ensure their safe and proper disposal. The appeal comes as part of ongoing efforts to prevent accidents, injuries, and fire-related incidents linked to the improper storage and use of fireworks.
Police officials emphasized that leftover fireworks, when kept at home or disposed of incorrectly, pose serious risks, particularly to children and densely populated communities. Authorities warned that even unused fireworks can become unstable over time, increasing the likelihood of accidental explosions.
The NCRPO encouraged residents to turn over unused firecrackers to their nearest police stations, assuring the public that surrendered items will be handled and disposed of following established safety protocols. The initiative aims to reduce fire hazards and reinforce public safety, especially after holiday celebrations when fireworks are commonly left unused.
Law enforcement agencies also reminded the public that strict regulations remain in place regarding the sale, possession, and use of prohibited fireworks. Violators may face penalties under existing laws designed to protect lives and property.
