PAGASA Forecast: Scattered Rains for Luzon, Hot and Humid Conditions for Visayas and Mindanao on Friday

MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is expecting cloudy skies with scattered rain showers across most parts of Luzon on Friday, December 12, 2025, due to the influence of a shear line and the northeast monsoon (amihan). Meanwhile, hot and humid weather will dominate the Visayas and Mindanao, with the potential for localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

The shear line, acting as the boundary between northeasterly and easterly winds, will bring cloudy conditions with a high chance of widespread rains over the Bicol Region and Quezon Province. The amihan will contribute to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers in Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora. For the rest of northern and central Luzon, expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated or scattered light rains. Metro Manila and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of localized thunderstorms.

In the Visayas, the shear line may cause cloudy skies with a high chance of widespread rains over Northern and Eastern Samar. The rest of the region will experience hot weather due to easterly winds, potentially leading to localized thunderstorms later in the day.

Mindanao will be under hot weather conditions throughout, also influenced by easterlies, with possible afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

No specific temperature ranges were detailed in the forecast, but hot conditions in the Visayas and Mindanao suggest highs potentially reaching uncomfortable levels. No gale warnings are in effect, allowing fishermen to venture out safely. PAGASA is not monitoring any tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas of Luzon are advised to monitor updates for possible flash floods or landslides during heavy rains, though no immediate warnings have been raised. For the latest advisories, check PAGASA’s website or app.
