
Eight people implicated in the controversial flood control project in Oriental Mindoro are now being held by authorities.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that among those detained are several Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials. One of the detainees was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), while six others voluntarily surrendered to the PNP Criminal Investigation & Detection Group (CIDG).
The names of those in custody include:
- Gerald A. Pacanan — DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director
- Gene Ryan A. Altea — former Assistant Regional Director, now DPWH Bureau of Maintenance Director
- Ruben Santos — Assistant Regional Director in DPWH MIMAROPA
- Dominic Serrano — Head of Construction Division, DPWH MIMAROPA
- Felisardo Casuno — Project Engineer III, DPWH MIMAROPA
- Juliet Calvo — Head of Maintenance Division, DPWH MIMAROPA
- Lerma Cayco — Accountant IV of the Bidding and Awards Committee, DPWH MIMAROPA
- Dennis Abagon — Officer in charge of Quality Assurance/Hydrology and Planning & Design, DPWH
They have been turned over to the Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division to face formal charges.
President Marcos urged others still at large, including former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, to surrender.
