Carlos Yulo, the Olympic gold medalist and gymnastics superstar, has been a strong source of support and guidance for his younger brother, Karl Eldrew, as he rises through the ranks of international gymnastics.
Carlos reminds Eldrew that success doesn’t come overnight, encouraging him to embrace each training session, focus on gaining experience, and stay mentally strong.
While sharing the same coach and passion for gymnastics, Carlos emphasizes that Eldrew will carve his own path. “We’ll go through it differently,” he notes, but adds that their shared goal keeps them close.
Carlos also acts as a proud cheerleader. He has praised Eldrew’s performances in competitions, particularly on high bar and floor exercises. His advice leading into finals is simple: “Just do what you’ve trained for. Focus, think through your routine, but don’t forget to enjoy the moment.”
Looking ahead, Carlos hopes that the brothers might one day compete together at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, calling the idea “fun” while acknowledging the challenge of qualifying.
