Army Intensifies Hunt for Dawlah Islamiya‑Maute Group After Lanao Clash

The Armed Forces of the Philippines is intensifying operations to track remaining fighters of the Dawlah Islamiya‑Maute Group (DI‑MG) following a clash in Lanao del Sur. The firefight resulted in the neutralization of one member and the seizure of multiple high-powered rifles and grenade launchers.

Officials warned that while this operation dealt a significant blow to DI‑MG’s manpower and infrastructure, remnants of the group continue to operate in remote areas. Joint Army–police efforts, including checkpoints, mobile patrols, and intelligence monitoring, have been heightened to prevent further attacks.
