The Philippine National Police (PNP) is launching an investigation into a Halloween party-goer who attended a gathering dressed in an official police uniform.
According to reports, the individual was seen wearing a uniform that closely resembles those issued to PNP personnel, prompting the PNP and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) to treat the case as a serious concern. The uniform is regarded not just as clothing, but as a symbol of public trust and authority.
NAPOLCOM has indicated it will issue a show-cause order to the party-goer, requesting an explanation for the use of the police uniform in a non-official context.
The PNP emphasized that the uniform shouldn’t be treated as a novelty costume and reminded the public that misusing law-enforcement insignia or dress can carry penalties under Philippine law.
