The Philippine volcano Mount Kanlaon on Negros Island erupted once again on the evening of 24 October 2025, sending a dense ash plume approximately 2,000 metres above its summit.
The eruption lasted only three to four minutes, according to seismograph and camera records from the monitoring agency.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the ash cloud drifted northeast and that ballistic fragments were thrown several hundred metres from the crater.
No evacuation was ordered at this time, but the alert level remains at Level 2 (“moderate unrest”), meaning people should avoid the four-kilometre “Permanent Danger Zone” around the summit.
Residents in nearby towns are cautioned about possible ashfall, lahar flows, and limited visibility — especially if rain follows the ash emission.
