Private Motorcycle Driver at PITX Tests Positive in Initial Drug Screening, Says DOTr

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has confirmed that during a random drug screening at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), a private motorcycle driver voluntarily submitted to testing and returned a positive result in the initial test.

According to the DOTr’s statement, the screening was part of a broader safety effort at the terminal, in coordination with other agencies.

While 159 bus drivers all tested negative, the one motorcycle operator’s positive result stands out.

Under current regulations, such cases trigger a confirmatory test and, depending on the final outcome, the driver may face consequences including suspension of his license or being barred from service.

The DOTr emphasizes that these measures are aimed at enhancing public safety—especially as large numbers of passengers are expected to travel during the upcoming holidays.
