Weather officials are forecasting that much of the Philippines will wake up to overcast skies and scattered rain showers on Friday, October 27. The main drivers behind this outlook include the northeast monsoon, a trough of low pressure situated outside the country’s area of responsibility, and local thunderstorms.
In regions such as Ilocos, the Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon, skies are expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rain due to the influence of the monsoon. Meanwhile, in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon and the country, rain-showers or thunderstorms may pop up in the afternoon or evening thanks to the trough and localized convective activity.
Officials note that the low-pressure area remains outside the Philippine area of responsibility and currently has a low chance of making landfall.
While no gale-warning is in effect, marine travelers are advised to stay alert as thunderstorms may still develop and sea-conditions can change.
