Typhoon Ramil is expected to make landfall in Catanduanes, prompting the weather bureau to raise Signal No. 2 over several parts of Luzon.
According to PAGASA, Ramil (international name: Sanvu) continues to intensify as it approaches the Bicol Region. The typhoon is bringing strong winds and heavy rains that could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Signal No. 2 has been hoisted over Catanduanes, the eastern section of Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon. Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 remains in effect in nearby provinces, including parts of Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Northern Samar.
Authorities are advising residents in affected areas to stay alert and prepare emergency supplies. Fisherfolk and small sea vessels are also warned against venturing into the eastern seaboards due to rough sea conditions.
PAGASA said Ramil may continue to strengthen before making landfall, and its movement could bring widespread rains to Luzon and Visayas over the weekend.
