PTFoMS Flags Lack of Legal Action as Key Hurdle in Curbing Media Harassment

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) has raised concern over the low number of cases filed against those who harass or threaten journalists in the Philippines.

According to the task force, many incidents of intimidation and online harassment go unreported or fail to progress to formal complaints, making it difficult to bring perpetrators to justice. This lack of legal follow-through, officials said, remains one of the biggest obstacles in ensuring the safety and protection of media workers across the country.

PTFoMS continues to urge journalists and media organizations to report all forms of harassment and coordinate with authorities so that proper legal measures can be taken. The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding press freedom and creating a safer environment for media professionals to perform their duties without fear or intimidation.
