President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is already preparing for his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), set to take place on July 28, according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro.
While specific details of the address remain under wraps, Castro noted that Marcos aims to deliver a stronger report highlighting key projects and accomplishments from the past year.
In preparation for the event, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has vowed to implement security measures to ensure the SONA proceeds peacefully. When asked about the ongoing impeachment issue involving Vice President Sara Duterte, PNP Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said their planning will depend on intelligence assessments leading up to the event.
Notably, VP Duterte is not expected to attend the SONA, as confirmed by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco. Over 200 guests have reportedly confirmed their attendance.
The upcoming SONA comes at a politically charged time, yet Marcos remains focused on transparency, development, and progress, according to recent Palace statements.
