Maris Racal on ‘Incognito’: “This Role Saved Me”

Maris Racal became emotional as she shared how filming the action-drama series Incognito had a life-changing impact on her. At the show’s finale press conference in Quezon City, the actress tearfully expressed how portraying the lead role of Gab Rivera helped her grow, both personally and professionally.

“Filming Incognito saved me,” Racal said. “It helped me evolve as an actor, and I’m so grateful to have been given the role of Gab Rivera.”

Gab, known for her mastery in disguise, multilingual skills, and bold personality, was Racal’s first action-heavy role. She admitted having doubts at first about whether she could convincingly deliver such a demanding performance.

But with months of tactical training, hand-to-hand combat drills, and guidance from military consultants and stunt directors, Racal found her confidence. “The training helped me let go of my doubts,” she recalled.

One of the most memorable scenes was shot on her first day—an intense action sequence in lingerie under the cold Baguio weather, highlighting her dedication from the start.

As the series wraps up, Racal said her greatest challenge now is saying goodbye to the character that deeply impacted her. “There were nerves, but excitement won. From the start, I knew I had to prove I was Gab Rivera. It’s been a dream come true, and now it’s hard to let go.”
