Marcos Donates Starlink Units, Inspects Learning and Port Facilities in Marawi

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. visited Marawi City on Monday to inspect Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) and oversee progress on major infrastructure projects as part of ongoing recovery efforts in the war-affected city.

During his stop in Barangay Sagonsongan, Marcos checked in on five TLS schools that serve around 720 students. These makeshift classrooms were established following the 2017 Marawi siege to ensure continued access to education for displaced youth.

As part of his commitment to improving connectivity in remote areas, the President donated Starlink internet units to the TLS facilities and several schools in Marawi, including Bangon Elementary School, Bacarat National High School, Angoyao National High School, and Cabasaran Primary School.

He also handed out school supplies and backpacks to all TLS enrollees through the Office of the President.

Marcos emphasized the importance of digital connectivity for learning, vowing continued efforts to bring internet access to underserved areas.

In addition, the President toured the newly completed Port of Marawi, a ₱261.5-million development under the Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Peacebuilding Program (MRRP) spearheaded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Marawi Rehabilitation and Development (OPAMRD).

The port includes an 8,000-square-meter backup area, a passenger terminal with 132 seats, a fish port, fast craft docking facilities, and a RoRo ramp—all aimed at boosting transport and economic activity in the region.
