The Oklahoma City Thunder are just one win from capturing their first NBA championship, holding a 3-2 series lead as they prepare for a pivotal Game 6 showdown against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night in Indianapolis.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault emphasized a focused mindset ahead of the potential title-clinching game. “We’re not thinking ahead. It’s all about zero-zero mindset and executing what we’ve practiced,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle faces uncertainty with star guard Tyrese Haliburton still dealing with injuries. His availability for Game 6 remains a game-time decision, as he continues to manage a calf strain and a previous ankle issue. “I want to play, I’m doing everything I can,” Haliburton said.
Since Indiana’s Game 3 win, Haliburton has struggled, shooting just 7-for-21 from the field over two games. Still, the Pacers are hoping for a full-team effort. “Whether he plays or not, it’s on all of us to step up,” said forward Pascal Siakam, who scored 28 points in Game 5.
Oklahoma City, led by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and breakout star Jalen Williams, has taken control of the series. Williams exploded for 40 points in Game 5, while SGA has tallied 66 points across Games 4 and 5.
Despite being on the verge of history, Daigneault says the Thunder aren’t taking anything for granted. “We’ve been here before, and we know how fast momentum can shift,” he said.
Game 6 tips off with everything on the line—and the Thunder determined not to let the championship slip away.
