A supposed fitness and wellness event turned chaotic in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, when a Zumba session spiraled into a physical confrontation between rival groups.
The incident occurred at a local sports complex, where a man was about to start a Zumba session when a woman stormed in, grabbed the microphone, and insisted her group was the only one officially recognized by the provincial government.
Another Zumba group challenged her claim, escalating the dispute. The mic was turned off, then snatched from the woman—who retaliated by grabbing the host’s face, an act described in a State of the Nation report as “sinakmal ang mukha ng lalaki.”
Tensions peaked when another male instructor entered the scene and exchanged punches with the first instructor. Eventually, the two men reconciled — but the woman refused to make peace.
Following the incident, authorities have suspended all Zumba sessions at the sports complex.
