Jinggoy Estrada’s Son, Nephew Mauled in Boracay After Bar Encounter; Police Investigate

Police in Malay, Aklan are investigating the assault on the son and nephew of Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada in Boracay, which appears to have stemmed from a tense encounter at a local bar.

According to Malay Police Chief Lt. Col. Mar Joseph Ravelo, CCTV footage shows the two parties crossed paths and exchanged looks inside the bar before the victims exited, followed shortly by the suspects.

Witnesses reported that the suspects tailed the victims, then one put his arm around a victim before the assault began—just 50 meters from the bar. Julian Ejercito sustained head injuries and a chipped toenail, while his cousin Jefferelly Vitug suffered a nose injury.

Police responded quickly after witnesses shouted for help. Estrada said he flew to Boracay immediately after learning of the incident and has since filed charges against the suspects, who were reportedly teenagers and are now in custody.

The motive remains unclear, but one suspect allegedly told Vitug, “Masyado kang maangas” (“You’re too arrogant”). The suspects have not yet made public statements.

Estrada condemned the attack, expressing concern for his family’s safety and urging for a safer, more secure environment in places meant for relaxation.
