“Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) is known for its emphasis on pagpapakatotoo—being real. But for actor-host Enchong Dee and former housemate Kai Montinola, authenticity on the show should come with accountability.
Enchong, who co-hosts PBB: Celebrity Edition Collab, said that while he champions being true to oneself, it shouldn’t be an excuse to resist growth. “Being real shouldn’t be a shield to avoid change. If there’s a chance to grow, take it,” he said at a press event for his upcoming movie.
Kai Montinola echoed similar thoughts, saying realness is about staying genuine to one’s emotions and beliefs. “If I’m truthful about what I feel and what I want to say, then I’m being real,” she explained during a separate media appearance.
However, Montinola added that self-awareness and responsibility also matter. Recalling her time in the PBB house, she said she was mindful of how her actions might influence young viewers, including her younger cousins. “I make mistakes, but I don’t let them define me. I always think about who might be watching,” she said.
