Former Vice President Leni Robredo has made a triumphant return to local politics, officially proclaimed as the new mayor of Naga City on Tuesday.
Winning by a landslide, Robredo secured over 84,000 votes, accounting for more than 91% of the total cast, according to the City Board of Canvassers.
In an interview with GMA Integrated News, Robredo emphasized the importance of rebuilding infrastructure after recent severe flooding, aiming to enhance the city’s resilience.
“We want to excel in education, health, and environmental efforts, especially because Naga is prone to calamities,” she said. “But at the core of everything is good governance.”
Robredo stressed her administration will prioritize measurable outcomes. “We’ll focus on metrics. We want to make Naga a joyful place for Nagueños and implement initiatives that can serve as models nationwide.”
She added that institutionalizing good governance is key, ensuring continuity and impact across leadership transitions.
